NB Antimicrobial Treatment Guidelines for Common Infections

These guidelines have been developed by the NB Provincial Health Authorities Anti-infective Stewardship Committee (ASC)  (a sub-committee of the Provincial Drugs and Therapeutics Committee). Local antibiotic resistance patterns and input from local infectious disease specialists, medical microbiologists, pharmacists and other physician specialists was considered in their development.

These clinical guidelines provide general recommendations for appropriate antibiotic use in specific infectious diseases and are not a substitute for clinical judgement.

Click here to access the guidelines on the Horizon Firstline Antimicrobial Stewardship App.

You can also download the Horizon Firstline App to your device through the App Store or Google Play by searching “Firstline Clinical Decisions.” Once downloaded, select “Horizon” from “Choose Your Location” and then input your work area and user type.  Alternatively you can scan the QR code below.

Alertable is an emergency mass notification system to help quickly communicate to Horizon staff during an emergency. This system supplements current emergency notification procedures and communications.

Active Horizon employees who are paid through Horizon Payroll will be automatically enrolled to receive emergency notifications.

Horizon has taken this step to share critical information with staff during situations where there is a concern for safety. Therefore, it is not possible to unsubscribe from emergency notifications.

How the system will be used

This system will only be used in emergency situations.

Alerts will be sent:

  • By email to your Horizon email address and the primary personal email address on file with Human Resources
  • By text to the primary personal phone number on file with Human Resources

Contact information is included in the emergency notification system while employed with Horizon and will be removed when an employee departs.

Contact information is stored in accordance with privacy requirements. Access to contact information is limited to authorized personnel.

Visit the HR Operations Express Lane on Skyline to learn how to update your personal contact information on file with Human Resources.

To learn more about Horizon’s emergency mass notification system or if you have questions, please visit the Emergency and Continuity Management Skyline page.
