Dr. Stephen Bolton

Dr. Stephen Bolton is a retired physician with extensive experience in various roles in New Brunswick and the United States.   

He most recently was an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) physician at Horizon’s Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville (2009-18). He previously worked in the Emergency Department (ED) and Urgent Care Centre at Horizon’s St. Joseph’s Hospital in Saint John (2004-09) and in the ED at Horizon’s Saint John Regional Hospital (1990-2004).

He was the first Medical Director of NB AirCare (1996-2008) and the first Medical Director of Ambulance New Brunswick (2006-08). Prior, he practiced Anesthesia in Iowa (1983-88).

He graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a PhD in Chemistry (1975), before attending Dalhousie Medical School, graduating in 1981, then completing a diploma course in anesthesia (1983) and a Residency in Family Medicine at the University of Iowa (1990).

Dr. Bolton was born in Fredericton and currently lives in Somerville. He has two children with his late wife. His hobbies include astronomy, genealogy,  and Revolutionary Wars reenactment.
