Licensed Counselling Therapist hired in Moncton area, providing one-at-a-time therapy sessions

Horizon has hired a Licensed Counselling Therapist (LCT) to provide one-at-a-time or single-session therapy to people in the Moncton area.

“It’s called one-at-a-time therapy or single-session therapy because that session stands on its own. However, people are welcome to book another appointment if they need or want it,” said Kelli, the new LCT at Horizon’s Petitcodiac Health Centre.

Did you know? The first LCT hired by Horizon is located in the Fredericton area! Check out this story to learn how to access Danielle’s services.

One-at-a-time therapy is a single therapy session with the LCT; however, clients may return for more sessions on an as-needed basis. By bringing the service into a primary health care setting, this model allows clients to be seen the same or next day. Services are available in all four regions of New Brunswick Horizon serves.

This therapy model was introduced in winter 2022 to adults but has since expanded to include youth over the age of 16. Kelli takes pride in helping clients of varying ages address concerns with their mental well-being.

Common concerns Kelli can help clients address include stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, loneliness and more.

“If someone needs more intensive services or ongoing therapy, I can refer them to a more appropriate service and guide them in the right direction,” she said.

“Sessions are about 50 minutes to an hour, and clients can expect it to be casual. We talk about what they want to talk about. We focus on the strengths that they already have within them, the resources that they already have, and then we brainstorm ideas or solutions they could work on to meet their goals.”

Kelli is available four days a week at the Petitcodiac Health Centre and one day in Salisbury.

Welcome to Horizon, Kelli! We are happy to have you join our team by providing essential services in the Moncton area.
