GLA:D  For patients with hip and/or knee osteoarthritis

What is GLA:D Canada?

GLA:D Canada is an evidence-based program to treat and manage hip and/or knee osteoarthritic symptoms and help manage and slow the progression of osteoarthritis, improve patient outcomes (increase function, decrease pain), and reduce the need for total joint replacements and opioid use.

Evidence suggests patients who are currently suffering with hip and/or knee osteoarthritis and are awaiting surgery, as well as those who have recently been diagnosed could benefit from the education and exercise therapy offered through the GLA:D program.

Patients in the program may decide they no longer need surgery, or they will be better able to manage their symptoms while waiting for surgery. This program has potential to reduce surgical wait times and improve overall patient outcomes both before and/or after surgery.

Patient Testimonials

“The GLA:D program has educated me and given me the knowledge to help me stay healthier.”

– Joan – GLA:D Program Participant

“Everything has become easy — specifically, climbing the stairs, walking, gardening, mowing, and snow-blowing my yard. Even simple things like getting dressed, doing household chores, getting in and out of the car, and standing at my counter for long periods when cooking.”
