Horizon’s Sussex Health Centre Emergency Department to temporarily close early TONIGHT

SUSSEX – Horizon is advising the public that due to an unexpected shortage of available staff, the Emergency Department (ED) at Horizon’s Sussex Health Centre (SHC) will close early TONIGHT at 8:30 p.m.

Regular 24-hour ED hours will resume on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 7:30 a.m.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency during this temporary closure, please visit your nearest 24/7 ED or call 911.

For non-urgent medical needs, we encourage Sussex-area residents to continue to use other options, such as Tele-Care 811; pharmacies; virtual care, such as eVisitNB.ca; and after-hours clinics. More information on these options is available at sowhywait.ca. If residents are unsure if their medical condition is urgent, please call Tele-Care 811 to discuss the type of medical attention needed.

Horizon remains committed to providing safe and quality care, and we are actively working to recruit physicians and nurses to the communities we serve. This is currently one of Horizon’s top priorities. Further details about Horizon’s plan and its four priority areas are available at HorizonNB.ca.
