Dr. Paul Goobie

Chief of Staff, Moncton area

Dr. Paul Goobie has been an attending General Surgeon at The Moncton Hospital since 1997. A Fellow of the Critical Care and General Surgical programs of the University of Ottawa, he received his medical degree from the University of Toronto. Presently, he is an Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University in the Department of General Surgery.

Dr. Goobie has held many medical leadership roles at Horizon and elsewhere, including the Clinical Department Head of General Surgery and Critical Care Medicine for the Moncton area, Medical Director for the trauma and surgical programs, and Governor of the New Brunswick Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. His contributions extend to provincial committees relating to critical care, surgical wait lists, and quality improvement.

Dr. Goobie is an avid cyclist, the vice president of VeloNB, and a regular participant in NB Doctors Cycling Against Cancer which is an annual fundraiser for The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation. He also sponsors the Northrop Frye International Literary Festival in Moncton, and enjoys devoting time toward nature conservancy causes in support of recreational fishing. He also enjoys cross-country skiing, live theatre, and music.
