Psychology

What is psychology?

Psychology is the scientific study of people’s mind and behaviours. Psychology services help patients, clients and their families adjust to current, new or difficult situations.

How are psychology services offered?

Horizon’s psychologists provide a wide range of specialized programs and services. A psychologist works with patients and families to help them understand, explain and make changes to their behaviour so they can function at their best. A psychologist may also test for psychological conditions, and provide diagnosis or treatment recommendations. Types of conditions include anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, etc.

How do I access these services?

If you are concerned about your well-being, please talk with your family physician or primary health care provider. You may then be referred to us for psychology services.

How do I prepare for a psychology appointment?

As you prepare for your appointment, you may wish to make a list of what you want to discuss. Many patients and clients find it helpful to write a list of their concerns since writing them all down ensures they don’t forget anything.
