Horizon Health Network, in partnership with our local hospital Foundations and Auxiliaries, is now offering free wireless Internet access for patients and their families at the following hospitals and facilities:

  • Charlotte County Hospital (Saint John area)
  • Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital (Fredericton area)
  • Grand Manan Hospital (Grand Manan Island, Saint John area)
  • Hotel-Dieu of St. Joseph (Upper River Valley Area)
  • Miramichi Regional Hospital (Miramichi area)
  • Oromocto Public Hospital (Fredericton area)
  • Sackville Memorial Hospital (Sackville area)
  • Saint John Regional Hospital (Saint John area)
  • Stan Cassidy Centre For Rehabilitation (Fredericton area)
  • St. Joseph’s Hospital (Saint John area)
  • Sussex Health Centre (Saint John area)
  • The Moncton Hospital (Moncton area)
  • Upper River Valley Hospital (Upper River Valley Area)

The wireless network, called ‘WiFi-Patients’, has coverage available in most patient areas including the cafeteria, lobby, waiting rooms, and patient rooms.

Horizon is currently exploring options to provide patient wireless internet to other facilities, including community health centres and clinics.

Some Restrictions Apply
  • There are some restrictions using wireless Internet and devices around life-critical equipment.
  • Do not plug any wireless devices into the red-coloured outlets as these outlets ensure adequate power to critical equipment during a power interruption.
  • There are some bandwidth limits on the wireless service to ensure equal access for all patients.
How to Connect

To access the patient and family wireless network:

  1. Open your wireless connection settings to see available wireless networks.
  2. Select ‘Wifi – Patients’ and click ‘Connect’ (some facilities may have additional numbers after ‘Wifi – Patients’).
  3. Open your web browser.
  4. After a few seconds, you will see an initial language page to ensure that the login instructions are provided in your language of choice (English or French). Note: If a login prompt does not happen, type in an address other than www.google.com such as www.cbc.ca.
  5. Review and accept the Terms and Conditions for the use of ‘Wifi – Patients’.
  6. Click the ‘Connect Me’ and redirect to the home page.

Horizon has introduced mobile device charging stations in the emergency departments of four regional hospitals including Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Saint John Regional Hospital, The Moncton Hospital, and Miramichi Regional Hospital. These stations will display prompts in both official languages and will be able to securely lock while charging and sanitizing mobile devices. 24/7 onsite support is available to users by Security and Safety Services.

Most patient beds are equipped with a private telephone. Upon request and by following the specific instructions a telephone service can be provided, at the patient’s cost, during their hospital stay.  Please enquire with hospital staff on how to activate this service

While in hospital, you may be able to rent a bedside television for a daily charge. Companies providing this service include ConnectMyBed and Hos. TV.

To make arrangements, please contact the service provider for your facility and ensure you have the patient room number handy:

  • Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital – ConnectMyBed
  • Miramichi Regional Hospital – 506-623-3098 (Hos. TV)
  • Oromocto Public Hospital – ConnectMyBed
  • Sackville Memorial Hospital – 506-536-4657 (Hos. TV)
  • Saint John Regional Hospital – 506-648-7800 (Hos. TV)
  • Sussex Health Centre – 506-432-3136 (Hos. TV)
  • The Moncton Hospital – 506-870-2495 (Hos. TV)
  • Upper River Valley Hospital – ConnectMyBed

ATM banking is available for your convenience at most hospitals throughout Horizon Health Network.

Check with facility personnel for more specific locations within the facility.

A number of Horizon facilities have an on-site Hair Salon which are operated by Hospital Auxiliaries. Stylists are available, by appointment, to serve patients on the nursing units or in the salon. Visitors and staff are also welcome.

There are various gift shops located in Horizon Health Network facilities. These shops offer a wide selection of gifts, reading materials, personal items and snacks. The gift shops and boutiques are operated by the Hospital Auxiliary and all profits from these shops are returned to the facility to be used for patient comforts.

Flower delivery services are available in some Horizon Health Network facilities. Please check with staff at your local facility.

Please note that flowers (fresh and dried) and plants should be excluded from areas where patients immune systems are suppressed. This includes units where oncology patients are being cared for, the Burn Unit and all intensive care settings. In according with the provision of a scent-reduced environment, we ask that you check with your florist to avoid ordering strongly scented flowers.
