Cardiac Surgery

The Cardiac Surgery Program at Horizon provides surgical care for patients with complex cardiovascular conditions.  

Services are delivered by a multidisciplinary team of specialized health professionals, ensuring seamless care from pre-operative assessment through recovery. These teams deliver high-quality, evidence-based interventions that improve survival, restore function, and enhance quality of life. 

The program supports a large spectrum of cardiac surgical procedures, including: 

  • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) 
  • Valve Repair and Replacement 
  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) 
  • Repair and Reconstruction of Great Vessels 
  • Removal of Cardiac Tumors 
  • Repair of Congenital and Acquired Heart Defects 
  • Aortic aneurysm Repairs involving the great vessels arising in the chest. 
  • Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR) 
  • Heart failure surgery with the implantation and Maintenance of short-term Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs) 
  • Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support for heart and/or lung support   

Over 900 cardiac surgical cases are performed each year.
