Emergency Department at Horizon’s Sussex Health Centre temporarily closed overnight this weekend

SUSSEX – The Emergency Department at Horizon’s Sussex Health Centre (SHC) will be temporarily closed for the weekend evening and night shifts from Friday, April 15 to Sunday, April 17. The temporary change in hours is due to critically low staffing levels.

The temporary weekend hours for the SHC Emergency Department will be:

  • Friday, April 15, 2022 – closed at 5:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 16, 2022 – 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 17, 2022 – 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Regular 24-hour emergency department hours will resume on Monday, April 18, 2022 at 7:30 a.m.

The Emergency Department will not be seeing patients and clients during the temporary closures and ambulances will be diverted to other hospitals.

All patients and clients requiring urgent medical care will need to seek treatment at another hospital.

As always, people experiencing a medical emergency should call 911. Additionally, people with non-urgent medical needs can call Tele-Care 811 if they have any questions about the type of medical attention they require, or book a virtual appointment through eVisitNB.

Horizon is committed to ensuring safe and quality care for our patients and clients, and we apologize for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause.
