Dr. Gurpreet Singh Ranger named new Local Chief of Staff for Upper River Valley area

WATERVILLE Horizon is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Gurpreet Singh Ranger to the position of Local Chief of Staff for the Upper River Valley area.

Reporting to Horizon’s Regional Chief of Staff, Dr. Gurpreet Singh Ranger officially assumed his duties on August 22, 2022, and is responsible for advising on matters such as quality of care, patient safety, and health care access for the people of the Upper River Valley area.

“We are excited to have Dr. Singh Ranger join our medical leadership team and to be a part of the shared vision that inspires our work at Horizon,” said Dr. Nachiketa Sinha, Horizon’s Regional Chief of Staff. “He has already proven his commitment to New Brunswickers with his relentless service as a surgeon and as a member of the medical community, and we look forward to working with him to improve the quality of care in our facilities for our patients, clients and their families.”

Dr. Singh Ranger is a general and colorectal surgeon at Horizon’s Upper River Valley Hospital (URVH) in Waterville. He originally qualified from the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St. Thomas’ hospitals in London, England, and underwent surgical and research training in London, Oxford, and Colchester, as well as spending some time in Vancouver.

He came to URVH in 2014 after holding a position as a consultant surgeon in the United Kingdom. At that time, he was immediately aware of the wonderful opportunities that the province had to offer, both professionally and personally, and he is very proud to call New Brunswick home.

He enjoys experiencing what New Brunswick has to offer, including its wonderful trails and coastal areas, as well as spending time with his young family.
