NB Perinatal Health Program Effective November 1st, 2024, all providers offering antenatal care in the province shall use the revised provincial antenatal record. The revision exercise was completed by a provincial clinical workgroup with representation from both RHAs. The update reflects current clinical practices and guidelines. Some modifications were made to improve ease of use. The program will assume a leadership role, striving to implement Canadian perinatal health practices standards across the province, participating in the quality improvement initiatives, and responding to the education and professional needs of care providers across the province. The program will foster the networking of key stakeholders, including clinicians, administrators, information specialists, researchers and others. Governance Structure The NBPHP is a formal partnership of Horizon Health Network, Vitalité Health Network and the Province of New Brunswick Department of Health. The NB Perinatal Health Advisory Committee is responsible for leading and overseeing the development, implementation and monitoring of the NBPHP. Personnel Dr. Ariadna Grigoriu, Medical Director Dr. Grigoriu has over 10 years of clinical experience in maternal-fetal and obstetrical care. She worked in several Canadian provinces and Australia. Dr. Grigoriu completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Western Ontario and fellowship training at the University of Toronto. She joined Horizon Health Network as a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist in 2017. Driven by her passion for evidence-based quality care, Dr. Grigoriu pursued a Masters in Public Health at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She is currently The Moncton Hospital site lead to the Canadian EPIQ (Evidence-based Practice for Improving Quality) Network. Dr. Grigoriu is an Assistant Professor with the Dalhousie University School of Medicine, and is actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical trainees. Dr. Grigoriu has a keen desire to build effective partnerships and collaborations and she recently completed the Foundation of Leadership Program from the Canadian Medical Association. She works collaboratively with the NB Perinatal Health Program’s administrative director as well as with medical colleagues and stakeholders across the province to promote excellence in the provision of perinatal care. Gaetane LeBlanc Cormier, Administrative Director Gaetane is the Administrative Director of the NB Perinatal Health Program. She has experience in program development and implementation with an extensive background in research. She holds a Masters in Business Administration from l’Université de Moncton as well as a Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University. She also holds certificates in clinical research and bioethics and has completed LEADS certification through the Canadian College of Health Leaders. As Director, she is responsible for the overall operations of the program and works directly with provincial stakeholders to promote excellence in perinatal health. She also serves as past chair of the Canadian Perinatal Program Coalition, and is a member of numerous provincial, regional and national collaboratives. Sarah Mallais, Informatics Coordinator The Informatics Coordinator is responsible for working with health information professionals and clinicians across the province to ensure the quality and integrity of data that is collected and abstracted using the 3M Health Information System Perinatal Chapter and other relevant data chapters. Kathryn Bocking, Research Analyst As Research Analyst, Kathryn is responsible for the maintenance of the perinatal data, including data quality reviews and initiatives, and the addition or removal of data indicators. As well, Kathryn is responsible for the analysis and dissemination of perinatal data, through standardized quarterly reports, statistical analysis, and data request. Sarah Killaire, Data Coordinator Sarah is the Data Coordinator of the Canadian Congenital Anomalies Surveillance System. This initiative in partnership with the Public Health Agency of Canada allows her to work in collaboration with other provinces and territories to ensure congenital anomalies cases are ascertained and that data is being captured with uniformity. The data is audited through ongoing chart reviews to ensure accuracy and quality before being submitted to the Public Health Agency of Canada for national reporting. Sarah also offers support to the Informatics Coordinator as a Certified Health Information Management Professional (CHIM). Guylaine Roy, Administrative Assistant Guylaine manages all administrative duties of the Program. It is a tool to aid in the communication between health care providers and provides a guide to evidence-based components of prenatal and maternal care. This form is to be used by all physicians and health care providers delivering perinatal care in the province.Specific fields in the Antenatal Record will be coded and collected as part of the perinatal data chapter. The collection of data will help identify and develop standards, best practices, health care initiatives and evidence-informed policies.
