UPDATE: Progress on new CT Scanner for Horizon’s Charlotte County Hospital

(ST. STEPHEN) – Horizon remains committed to enhancing access to high-quality health care services for residents of the Charlotte County area.

This commitment includes the addition of a brand-new state-of-the-art CT scanner at Horizon’s Charlotte County Hospital (CCH), made possible through the generosity of donors with the Charlotte County Hospital Foundation. We want to provide an update on the progress of this project.

While construction began in late summer 2024, unforeseen delays have pushed the expected operational date to early 2025.

There have been questions from the community regarding the condition of the equipment, and we want to assure you that the CT scanner is brand new, purchased specifically for CCH by the CCH Foundation. It is not a used unit from another facility.

To maximize the lifespan and warranty of the new CT scanner, we will not bring it on-site until the renovations are complete, and is ready to be installed and operational. This ensures patients receive the full benefit of this investment.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate these delays and prepare for the go-live date. This scanner will bring tremendous benefits to our community by providing timely and local access to diagnostic imaging.

In terms of next steps, construction and renovations to the space at CCH are ongoing. Once completed, the CT scanner will be delivered and installed, and staff will undergo extensive training to ensure optimal use of this advanced technology.

Thank you for your continued support of Horizon and your advocacy for health care improvements in Charlotte County. We will keep you updated on milestones as they are reached.
