New innovative maternal care support tool giving New Brunswickers access to resources and support through pregnancy and postpartum

March 23, 2026

This latest provincial expansion of SeamlessMD creates new resources and support for individuals, in addition to the care they receive from their providers

(HORIZON) – Horizon Health Network (Horizon), Vitalité Health Network (Vitalité), and the Government of New Brunswick (GNB) have expanded their partnership with SeamlessMD to offer an innovative and modern maternal support tool for New Brunswickers. This latest expansion offers support, resources, and educational materials for individuals throughout their pregnancy, leading up to delivery and into postpartum.

Once registered, individuals will have access to a self-care library with resources on managing symptoms, helpful information leading up to their delivery, such as information on what to expect and to-do lists to help them get ready, as well as postpartum support to help them recover at home, including daily health checks to make sure they are recovering well.

“The information and resources provided through the app were developed by a team of Horizon obstetricians and clinicians,” said Dr. Ken Gillespie, Horizon Physician Program Lead, Women and Children’s Health. “Not only will this provide accurate and up-to-date information, but it also modernizes how people access it. It’s like a modern-day version of the What to Expect When You’re Expecting book, but expanded and accessible on your phone or tablet.”

SeamlessMD can be accessed through an app on tablets and phones, or through a web browser on computers. To sign up, pregnant individuals will receive a code from their primary care provider or the provider following them through their pregnancy. Along with the resources and supports, individuals will also receive reminders about upcoming appointments, helping to ensure they don’t miss them.

“Integrating SeamlessMD into the perinatal care pathway represents a significant step forward in modernizing how we support families,” said Chantalle Arsenault, Corporate Director of Women’s and Children’s Health at Vitalité Health Network. “By combining digital tools, reliable clinical information, and proactive follow-up, this solution enables patients to be better informed, better prepared, and better supported.”

The expansion of this partnership follows a previous one in September for Horizon and Vitalité patients undergoing Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary surgery. Early patient feedback has been positive, with patients expressing increased confidence in recovery and fewer post‑operative readmissions.

“We are proud to expand our partnership with Horizon, Vitalité, and GNB to support New Brunswickers during one of life’s most important journeys,” said Joshua Liu, SeamlessMD CEO. “Pregnancy and the postpartum period bring both excitement and challenges. Our platform is designed to ensure no one walks that path alone by delivering the right information at the right time, directly to your phone or tablet. This expansion reflects our shared commitment to provide accessible, connected, and patient-centred care across the province.”

This expansion is in alignment with Horizon’s 2025-2030 Strategic Plan pillars of trusted partner in research and innovation and delivering excellence in hospital care. By transforming how we provide care through innovative and modern solutions, we’re able to ensure New Brunswickers have access to invaluable resources at any time so they feel prepared and supported at every step of the process throughout their pregnancy and postpartum.

“We want to empower New Brunswickers to make more informed decisions about their health through the use of digital tools,” said Health Minister John Dornan. “We are pleased to see the launch of this initiative as it will help provide pregnant individuals with important resources needed through pregnancy and postpartum.”
