Medical Day Clinic services to be provided at Horizon’s Oromocto Public Hospital

(FREDERICTON/OROMOCTO) – Horizon wishes to advise patients in the Fredericton area that Medical Day Clinic services will be relocating from the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital to the Oromocto Public Hospital (OPH) beginning Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024.

The Medical Day Clinic is an ambulatory (outpatient) clinic offering wound care, IV therapy, and other ambulatory treatments.

Horizon is confident this operational change will maintain a positive patient experience for those who access this service while also freeing up much-needed inpatient capacity at the DECRH to care for our sickest patients.

The process for accessing services at the Medical Day Clinic remains unchanged, as patients will continue to require a referral from a physician or primary care provider.

The clinic’s new location will offer improved access in a bright, spacious environment, well-suited to delivering Medical Day Clinic services. Oromocto is centrally located for many patients who access the Medical Day Clinic and offers free parking for added convenience.

The same dedicated team of clinicians will continue to deliver high-quality care at this new location, ensuring that patients receive familiar and compassionate service in a facility designed to meet their needs.

Horizon understands that this change may affect patients with transportation barriers, and we are committed to supporting these patients by ensuring options are available to mitigate any challenges.

Our team will work closely with patients to ensure they have all the information they need for a smooth transition.

By expanding services at OPH, we are enhancing care options in the region while continuing to collaborate with primary care providers to explore ways to further support patients and ensure continuity of care.
