Horizon is proud to be Accredited!

Horizon received a 95 per cent compliance rate during Accreditation Canada survey, with surveyors commending work on critical action areas

(HORIZON) – Following a thorough assessment by surveyors from Accreditation Canada, Horizon is pleased to announce all of its sites and services have been “Accredited.”

From April 16 to 21, 2023, Horizon welcomed 17 accreditors from across Canada who surveyed 56 locations, assessing quality of processes and services and patient safety. The assessment, based on national standards, is a review of health care and social service organizations across Canada. Horizon earned a 95 per cent compliance rate based on 26 standards.

“Horizon prides itself on its commitment to ensuring all New Brunswickers have access to safe and quality health care,” said Margaret Melanson, Horizon’s interim President and CEO. “Horizon’s Executive Leadership Team and I are proud of the work our staff and physicians do every day to meet those standards. I commend their commitment to continuous improvement and to providing exceptional care to every person, every day.”

Health care accreditation helps identify what an organization is doing well and where to focus its improvement efforts.

In its final report, Accreditation Canada commended Horizon for its ongoing work to improve access to health care services, retain and recruit employees and physicians, improve patient flow at our health care facilities, engage our communities and provide a positive patient experience.
