(CENTREVILLE/ FREDERICTON/STANLEY) – Horizon is hosting free vaccination clinics for the mumps, measles and rubella (MMR) vaccine in Centreville, Fredericton and Stanley.

Measles is highly contagious and spreads through airborne transmission and close contact. Being vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself, your family, and the community from measles.

Two doses of the MMR vaccine is almost 100 per cent effective at preventing measles infection.

  • Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Friday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Walk-in appointments will be available, but you are encouraged to book your MMR vaccine online or by calling 1-833-437-1424.

Who can receive a vaccine:

  • Adults born in 1970 or later who have not previously received two doses of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine
  • Children and adolescents who have not received two doses of MMR vaccine after turning 12 months of age

Those who are unsure of their vaccination status, or that of their children, are urged to discuss this with their health-care provider. If you have questions about the measles vaccine, please contact Public Health at 506-323-2690 Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

If you suspect you may have been exposed to measles or are experiencing symptoms, call your primary care provider or Tele-Care 811 for further direction.

To mitigate the risk of transmission, please do not present to the Emergency department if you suspect you may have measles and are experiencing non-urgent symptoms.
