Emergency Department at Horizon’s Sussex Health Centre will be temporarily closed evening and night shifts all weekend August 4, 2022 SUSSEX – Due to a staffing shortage the Emergency Department at Horizon’s Sussex Health Centre (SHC) will be temporarily closed for the evening and night shifts all weekend beginning Friday, Aug. 5, 2022. The SHC ED will be open during the following hours: Friday, Aug. 5, 2022 until 5:30 p.m.Saturday, Aug. 6. 2022 from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022 from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Regular 24-hour emergency department hours will resume on Monday, Aug. 8, 2022 at 7:30 a.m. The Emergency Department will not be seeing patients and clients during this temporary closure and ambulances will be diverted to other hospitals. All patients and clients requiring urgent medical care will need to seek treatment at another hospital.As always, people experiencing a medical emergency should call 911. Additionally, people with non-urgent medical needs can call Tele-Care 811 if they have any questions about the type of medical attention they require. People can also book a virtual appointment through eVisitNB. Appointments are available by video, phone or direct messaging for common illnesses, injuries and mental health concerns. This on-demand service is available 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. seven days a week, or by scheduled appointments. Virtual care through eVisitNB is covered by New Brunswick Medicare. Horizon apologizes for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause.
