The Moncton Primary Health Care clinic provides primary health care to newcomers to Canada who have arrived as refugees.

The clinic’s goal is to see these newcomers within a month of their arrival in Canada. During this initial assessment, patients have a full health history and physical examination done. Diagnostic investigations are conducted based on their country of origin and plans to get vaccinations up to date are developed, in addition to developing a health care plan for each new patient.

Services are available in English and French, and staff members use technology to communicate with patients in other languages including, but not limited to, Arabic, Sudanese Arabic, Swahili, Tigrigna, Spanish, Burmese and Somali. Easy and early access to primary health care can help facilitate adaptation to life in Canada as well as help detect health problems that require prompt assessment and intervention.
