Horizon’s Fredericton Urgent Treatment Centre offers care to patients of all ages experiencing unexpected non-life-threatening illnesses or injuries requiring urgent, same-day medical attention and treatment.

This new facility, located within the Brookside Mall – across from Lawton’s – on Fredericton’s north side, officially opened its doors to patients on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023 and is staffed by physicians from the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital Emergency Department, with the support of Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses.

Patients must present to be registered in person and will now be triaged using a standardized triage system, ‘worst comes first,’ like in an Emergency Department. Appointments are not available.

Examples of conditions that can be treated by the Urgent Treatment Centre include:

  • Minor rash/skin conditions
  • Soft tissue injury
  • Minor allergic reactions
  • Skin infections
  • Extremity injuries
  • Lumps/bumps
  • Abrasions
  • Nosebleeds
  • Minor wounds/lacerations
  • Medical Imaging (X-ray)
  • Diarrhea
  • Rashes
