Dr. James Michael completed his medical degree at Memorial University in Newfoundland. He subsequently completed his Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology training at Dalhousie University. 

Dr. Michael has been a Medical Oncologist at the Saint John Regional Hospital since 2016. He has an interest in medical education; being a Professional Competency I tutor at Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick (DMNB) since 2017 and the Saint John medical oncology education lead since 2019. Dr. Michael is active in clinical trials research as both a principal investigator and sub-investigator.

Dr. Michael also serves on a number of local, national and international committees including: the New Brunswick Lung Cancer Screening Advisory Committee, the Canadian Association of Medical Oncologists’ Membership Committee and the North American Neuroendocrine Tumour Society’s Guidelines Committee. He also participates as a Clinical Expert for new oncology drug reviews with the Canadian Drug Agency.
