Oncology

Saint John Area

Dr. Elizabeth Zed was born and raised in Saint John and moved to Halifax for undergraduate education. She received her medical degree from the Schulich School of Medicine at the University of Western Ontario and then returned to the East Coast to pursue her Internal Medicine and Hematology fellowship in Halifax at Dalhousie University. She joined the Departments of Oncology and Internal Medicine in 2014.

While her clinical practice spans both benign and malignant hematologic diseases, she has a particular interest in the interplay of bleeding and thrombosis both in benign and malignant disorders. Her oncologic clinical areas of interest include myeloproliferative disorders, chronic leukemias and lymphomas.

Dr. Zed is currently the Division Head for Hematology and the Director of the Inherited Bleeding Disorders Clinic. She is an active mentor, teacher and preceptor for medical students, internal medicine and family medicine residents as well as hematology fellows. As the Education Lead for the Hematology Division, she plays an active role in educational activities for the Internal Medicine Residency program along with medical students.

Outside of her work, Dr. Zed has three energetic children, and she enjoys spending time with her immediate (and extended) family and friends and exploring our province and beyond.
