Horizon names Dr. Nachiketa Sinha as new Regional Chief of Staff

HORIZON – Horizon is pleased to announce that Dr. Nachiketa Sinha has been appointed as the organization’s new Regional Chief of Staff.

Dr. Sinha – who has worked as a consulting psychiatrist in New Brunswick since 2006 and had been serving as Chief of Psychiatry at Horizon’s The Moncton Hospital – will begin his new role effective Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

He takes over from Dr. Ken Gillespie, who had been serving as Horizon’s interim Regional Chief of Staff since September 2021.

As Regional Chief of Staff, Dr. Sinha will work directly with Horizon’s Board of Directors and will be responsible for overseeing the quality of medical care provided by all medical staff across the organization.

“Dr. Sinha’s engaging leadership style, strong character and practical wisdom will serve him well in his new position,” said Dr. John Dornan, Horizon’s President and CEO. “I’d also like to thank Dr. Gillespie for his contributions over the last several months – he has done a terrific job of communicating with physicians during the last several waves of the COVID-19 pandemic, moving us forward in physician recruitment and supporting our program management goals.”

Dr. Sinha received his training in psychiatry at Cambridge Deanery, and worked at the Bedfordshire and Luton NHS Trust in the United Kingdom.

He is an assistant professor with the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University in Halifax, N.S., has an executive MBA in health care from the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business, and is the author of an internationally recognized self-help book, Empowered and Strong.

Dr. Sinha has held various administrative roles within Horizon, as well as at provincial and national levels.
