Horizon Health Network Joins the Princess Margaret Cancer Care Network June 18, 2026 (HORIZON) – Horizon Health Network (Horizon) is the ninth cancer program in Canada to join the Princess Margaret Cancer Care Network, the third out-of-province partner, and the first from the Maritime provinces, marking a significant milestone in strengthening cancer care expertise, research, and education across New Brunswick and beyond. The Princess Margaret Cancer Care Network brings together local, regional, and national partners committed to enhancing collaborative clinical care, accelerating research and innovation, and strengthening cancer education. “This partnership reflects the growing strength of a pan-Canadian approach to cancer care,” said Dr. Keith Stewart, Vice President, Cancer and Laboratory Medicine at University Health Network (UHN), and Director of the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. “By expanding our Network to include leading out-of-province partners such as Horizon Health Network, we are advancing coordinated care across Canada – ensuring more patients can benefit from world-class cancer care closer to where they live.” Horizon is New Brunswick’s largest regional health authority, providing a full continuum of cancer care services to patients across the province. Horizon’s cancer care program delivers services across multiple sites, including the Saint John Regional Hospital, The Moncton Hospital, Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, Miramichi Regional Hospital, as well as regional and satellite care locations in Upper River Valley, Perth‑Andover, Charlotte County, and Sussex. The program offers a comprehensive range of services – including cancer drug therapy, radiation therapy, stem cell transplant, haematology, and medical oncology – supported by a multidisciplinary team of oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, radiation therapists, and allied health professionals. With a strong focus on individualized, patient-centred care and a growing commitment to research and clinical trials, Horizon is dedicated to advancing cancer care excellence and ensuring New Brunswickers have access to the highest standard of oncology services. “At Horizon, our commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred cancer care is at the heart of everything we do,” said Greg Doiron, Vice President, Clinical Operations with Horizon Health Network. “For patients here in New Brunswick, this partnership means greater access to specialized expertise, innovative treatments, and clinical trials, close to home. For our cancer care teams, it opens new doors for collaboration, research, and professional growth that will elevate the standard of care we deliver today and for years to come.” “The Princess Margaret Cancer Care Network is built on collaboration,” said Dr. Andrea Bezjak, Medical Director of the PM Cancer Care Network. “Our model is designed to complement, not replace, existing partnerships, enhancing capacity and access while preserving established referral pathways. By sharing expertise and innovation across institutions, we can better address unmet needs and strengthen care for patients across the country.” Through this partnership, Horizon and the PM Cancer Care Network have identified key collaboration opportunities to enhance clinical care, expand educational offerings, and advance research and innovation. This includes increasing access to educational resources and professional development, as well as supporting guideline and protocol development across programs. A key focus will be strengthening radiation oncology capabilities, with collaboration on the development of advanced techniques such as spinal and liver SBRT protocols. Network partners within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) include Southlake Health, Oak Valley Health, William Osler Health System, Mackenzie Health, and Hennick Humber Hospital. Beyond the GTA, Partners include the Waterloo Regional Health Network. Outside Ontario, Network Partners include Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services, the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, and now Horizon Health Network.
