Horizon and YouTube partnership expands with teen mental health and first aid content

New video playlists provide trusted, accessible resources for youth and families on commonly searched health topics

(HORIZON) – Horizon Health Network (Horizon) is expanding its partnership with YouTube Health Canada with two new video playlists designed to combat health misinformation and provide trusted, accessible information on teen mental health and first aid topics.

The new playlists mark the latest steps in a collaboration that began in late 2023, when Horizon first partnered with YouTube to create videos about health conditions commonly searched by Canadians.

Since launching the partnership in October 2023, Horizon’s YouTube channel has received a total of 5.7 million views. By December 2025, this collaboration with YouTube will have added 246 patient education-focused videos, including 61 different topics covered in detail between long-form and short-form videos in both English and French.

“We know the Internet, and specifically sites like YouTube, are where a lot of people are seeking out health information. We have to be on there with content they can trust,” said Paul Greene, Horizon’s Vice President Communications. “By leveraging YouTube’s insights on what Canadians are searching for, we’re able to create content that directly addresses their questions with evidence-based information in a format that’s engaging and easy to understand.”

The teen mental health playlist represents Horizon’s first series created specifically for youth aged 13 to 17. Videos address topics that teens encounter in their daily lives, including vaping, ADHD, depression and anxiety, using language and visual presentation tailored to young audiences.

“This partnership has allowed us to ensure we’re focusing on the topics that are most relevant to teens and the content they are searching for on YouTube, while helping to break down stigmas and understand themselves and each other better,” said Kim Foster, Horizon’s Regional Director of Child and Youth Services. “It provides teens with a springboard for starting conversations and offers families, teachers, and even our own practitioners, additional resources to enhance their understanding of these complex topics.”

The videos are already being shared throughout schools and supporting organizations across the province as trusted resources for youth mental health education.

The first aid playlist will educate viewers on emergency topics such as performing CPR while also helping the public distinguish between life-threatening situations and those that can be safely managed at home.

Videos also promote public resources including poison control, first responders and primary care providers, better equipping viewers to handle medical situations appropriately and ensure proper use of health care resources.

“Our ongoing collaboration with Horizon Health Network showcases what happens when trusted institutions meet audiences where they are,” said Dr. Garth Graham, Director and Global Head of YouTube Health. “In just two years, Horizon’s video content on YouTube has reached millions of viewers, demonstrating the power of making high-quality, evidence-based health information accessible at scale. These new teen mental health and first aid shelves help to ensure viewers find trusted guidance from partners like Horizon.”

Through its partnership with YouTube Health Canada, Horizon’s Communications department continues to fulfill its core mandate of ensuring accurate, evidence-based health information is available in both official languages and easily discoverable where people are already searching for answers.

The collaboration also showcases the expertise of Horizon’s health care professionals while reaching diverse audiences both within New Brunswick and beyond.

All videos, including the new Teen Mental Health and First Aid playlists, are available on Horizon’s YouTube channel (@HorizonNB). Viewers can subscribe to the channel to receive alerts when new content is added.
