Temporary Closure of Emergency Department at Horizon’s Sackville Memorial Hospital October 2, 2020 (SACKVILLE) – The Emergency Department at Horizon’s Sackville Memorial Hospital (SMH) will temporarily close on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. and re-open on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 8 a.m. Due to a physician shortage, the Emergency Department will not be seeing patients and clients during this night shift and ambulances will be diverted to other hospitals. All patients and clients requiring urgent medical care will need to seek treatment at another hospital. As always, patients who have a medical emergency should call 911. Patients can call Tele-Care 811 if they have any questions about the type of medical attention they need. This is the second temporary closure to the SMH Emergency Department this year, where physician coverage could not be found. Horizon is committed to ensuring safe and quality care for our patients and clients, and we apologize for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause. – 30 – For more information contact: Kris McDavidMedia Relations1-877-499-1899media@horizonnb.cahorizonnb.ca/news
