Public urged to use ED for emergencies only and observe visitor restrictions

Due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 in the Moncton area, patients are urged to seek alternate options for non-urgent health care needs, rather than presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) of Horizon’s The Moncton Hospital and Horizon’s Sackville Memorial Hospital.

Since the Moncton area has returned to the orange phase, strict visitor restrictions have been expanded to include both Horizon hospitals in the area. There are no visitors allowed at Horizon’s The Moncton Hospital and Horizon’s Sackville Memorial Hospital.

Changes are only in effect for these two Horizon facilities.

As always, the EDs remain available for those presenting with urgent, critical or emergent medical conditions, however those experiencing non-urgent symptoms can expect long wait times.

To learn more about the various care options available in the Moncton area, we strongly encourage the public to visit www.sowhywait.ca. Other options for care can include contacting your family physician or pharmacist, visiting an after-hours or walk-in clinic or by phoning Tele-Care 811.

If you are displaying mild or moderate symptoms of COVID-19, complete the self-assessment by visiting www.gnb.ca/coronavirus or call Tele-Care 811.
