PSA: Reminder to follow provincial guidelines related to cross-border travel December 5, 2020 (SACKVILLE) – If you have travelled between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, please do not present to the Emergency Department (ED) of Horizon’s The Moncton Hospital (TMH) or Horizon’s Sackville Memorial Hospital (SMH) for non-urgent health care needs. This is to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Horizon facilities. The Government of New Brunswick (GNB) updated its emergency order to state that unless exempt, travellers entering New Brunswick are required to self-isolate for 14 days. This includes New Brunswick residents returning home. Please remember to abide by the emergency order, as it relates to cross-border travel between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, including when seeking health care services. If you’ve travelled to Nova Scotia, and present at one of Horizon’s EDs, additional precautions need to be implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19. If you are displaying mild or moderate symptoms of COVID-19, do not go to the emergency department. Please complete the self-assessment by visiting www.gnb.ca/coronavirus, or call Tele-Care 811. Patients are urged to seek alternate options for non-urgent health care needs, rather than presenting to the ED. Please visit SoWhyWait.ca for health-care options available to reduce congestion and wait times in EDs. In an emergency, please call 911 or go directly to the nearest ED. Thank you for your cooperation. Stay safe and healthy. – 30 – For more information contact: Kris McDavidMedia Relations1-877-499-1899media@horizonnb.cahorizonnb.ca/news
