Horizon Launches new Strategic Plan – Building a Healthier Future

(HORIZON) – Horizon Health Network (Horizon) released its new strategic plan entitled Building a Healthier Future.

The strategic plan is an outline for how Horizon plans to improve the way they provide health care services to their patients, clients and their families, now and for the next five years. 

“This strategic plan is our approach to address the areas in our health care system where improvements can give us the best return for our health,” said John McGarry, Chair of Horizon’s Board of Directors.

“We know there are many parts of the system that are working well, and we want to build on those parts and improve in the areas we’ve identified as priorities. We believe this plan is foundational to all future improvements in the system and will enhance the way we deliver care to New Brunswickers.”

The plan is comprised of three priorities: 1) Efficient and Appropriate Care, 2) System Wrapped Around Patient/Client Needs and 3) Sustainability.

“Horizon’s new strategic plan builds upon Horizon’s previous work, so that we can continue to provide safe and quality care to our patients, clients and their families”, said Karen McGrath, President and CEO of Horizon Health Network. “This plan will help us to realize our potential, help us allocate our resources and set us up for success in addressing the health care challenges we’ve identified as priorities, which we know will persist in the coming decade.”

Horizon is working to instill a health care experience where the needs of their patients, clients and communities come first, and where New Brunswickers have timely access to services in appropriate settings.

Horizon looks forward to sharing updates on the progress of their new strategic plan throughout the next five years.

The plan was developed after extensive consultations with patients, clients, staff, physicians, and health care and community stakeholders.
