Horizon is asking the public to use the Emergency Department for emergencies

(HORIZON) – Horizon Health Network is asking the public to consider their health care options over the weekend.

Horizon’s Emergency Departments, in particular in Fredericton, Miramichi, Moncton and Saint John, remain extremely busy and we need to prioritize trauma and critical care patients. Patients with non-urgent medical issues may experience long wait-times.

Consider one of the following options:

  • If you are feeling unwell, don’t delay. Contact your primary care provider before the weekend.
  • Need a prescription refill? Visit your local pharmacist or primary care provider.
  • A sore throat, earache or rash could be treated at a local after-hours clinic.
  • If you need health care advice or are unsure about your medical issue, contact Tele-Care 811.

We encourage you to visit SoWhyWait.ca to help choose the best option for care: pharmacist, primary health care provider, after-hours clinic, virtual care, Tele-Care 811, or the Emergency Department.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or proceed to your local Emergency Department. Emergency, critical and urgent cases will always be treated as quickly as possible.
