COVID-19 assessment centres being established in three rural communities January 22, 2021 (HORIZON) – Horizon is pleased to announce it is opening three new, temporary COVID-19 assessment centres to help enhance testing capacity and increase accessibility to rural residents in our coverage area. These appointment-only sites will be located in the following communities: Sussex – Gateway MallSackville – Location to be determinedPerth-Andover – Perth-Andover Baptist Church The Perth-Andover site, located at 194 Barrett St., began taking appointments today, Friday, Jan. 22. We anticipate the Sackville and Sussex locations will open in the coming days. Hours of operation at each location will be determined based on need, and sites will remain in place as long as there is a demand for this service. “Having these new COVID-19 assessment centres in place will help to reduce the social and financial burden of having to travel longer distances to receive COVID-19 testing and should encourage more people to get tested and help control the spread of the virus,” said Jean Daigle, Horizon’s VP Community. “These locations were selected strategically and are positioned in regional service hubs, which support significant rural, Indigenous and student populations.” As with all our COVID-19 Assessment Centres, access is by appointment only. These are not walk-in clinics. Anyone with any symptoms of COVID-19 is urged to complete the self-assessment by visiting the Government of New Brunswick’s online COVID-19 portal or calling Tele-Care 811.
