Additional Temporary Closures at Horizon’s Sackville Memorial Hospital Emergency Department

(SACKVILLE) – The Emergency Department at Horizon’s Sackville Memorial Hospital (SMH) will be temporarily closed on the following evening and night shifts:

  • Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, from 4 p.m. to Friday, Sept. 3, 2021 at 8 a.m.
  • Monday, Sept. 6, 2021 from 4 p.m. to Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021 at 8 a.m.

The Emergency Department will not be seeing patients and clients during any temporary closure and ambulances will be diverted to other hospitals.

All patients and clients requiring urgent medical care will need to seek treatment at another hospital.

This change is due to a shortage of physicians.

The weekend operating hours for the emergency department continue to be 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

As always, patients experiencing a medical emergency should call 911. Patients can call Tele-Care 811 if they have any questions about the type of medical attention they require.

Horizon is committed to ensuring safe and quality care for our patients and clients, and we apologize for any inconvenience these temporary closures may cause.
