Dr. Suzanne Johnston Trustee Dr. Suzanne Johnston is an accomplished and visionary leader, recently retired from her role as President of Niagara Health. Retiring back home in New Brunswick in 2021, Suzanne continues to be committed to shaping health care in Canada. She brings a distinctly people-focused approach to creating caring cultures and improving engagement among the community, employees, and physicians. Suzanne calls for an unwavering commitment on the part of every leader to dig deep and lead with presence and the belief in people’s desire to do the right thing. Suzanne obtained both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing from the University of New Brunswick (UNB), and completed her PhD in Nursing at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She completed executive education at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. Suzanne’s interests include a love of people, community engagement, and large scale system transformation leadership. On any given day you will find her connecting with people in places of work and neighbourhood or you might find her behind her camera on a woodsy trail. Suzanne cares about making the world a better place, is driven by a passion for the natural world and the potential of future generations. Suzanne currently serves as Trustee for Horizon Health Network and Co-Chair of the Implementation Task Force for the Provincial Health Plan in New Brunswick. She is also an Honorary Research Associate in the School of Graduate Studies at UNB.
