Dr. Tom Peters Medical Director, Fredericton area Dr. Thomas Peters has been the Medical Director for Fredericton and the surrounding area since 2010. A thoracic surgeon and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and America College of Chest Physicians, Dr. Peters received his medical degree and general surgery residency training from Dalhousie University in 1972 and 1981, respectively, during which he worked in family medicine in Halifax and Peru. He completed his two-year specialty training in thoracic surgery at Dalhousie University and Exeter University (UK) in 1983 before working as a general and thoracic surgeon in Fredericton from 1983 to 2012. Dr. Peters has held numerous administrative leadership positions, including Chief of General Surgery and Clinical Head of Surgical Program. The former head of the Medical Education Committee, he is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Dalhousie University.
